The Stewardship profession - a manifesto

Already in 2022 Dr. Alexander Juschus and Mike Lubrano of StePs - Stewardship Professionals published "The Stewardship profession - A Manifesto."

It was a call to action.

Over the course of the last decade, the concept of investor stewardship gained greater acceptance and popularity alongside the evident growth of the stewardship specialization within institutional investors, service providers and consultants.

But: for something to truly amount to a profession, it must involve a common core of (1) acquired knowledge, (2) skills and (3) behaviours by individuals, who regard their activities as a vocation, and that are recognized by others as valued expertise. These three elements of a profession are often reinforced by a fourth – (4) a formal, recognized qualification.

The call to action has been heard.

Considering the multidisciplinary nature of the practice of stewardship, we created a comprehensive course curriculum based on five pillars. The CSP© e-learning course and accreditation is led by renowned experts from academia and practice, designed to equip stewardship professionals with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed in this pivotal role.
